Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County

Through Oct. 26

The 32nd Annual Piecemakers’ Quilt Show will take place at the Warehouse Living Arts Center, 119 W. Sixth Ave. Admission is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. A quilt will be raffled off as part of the annual show. Oct. 17

Kinsloe House will present a very interesting program given by Cindy Burch, owner of the Dove’s Nest Restaurant in Waxahachie. She will tell about delicious recipes in her Dove’s Nest Cookbook. The attendees will be able to purchase her cookbook after the program.  She will give members some ideas for creating good meals for ourselves and our families. Ms. Burch writes a column for the Ellis Co. Living Magazine and travels extensively world-wide collecting recipes. Please call and make your reservations by noon on Oct. 15. Attendees will find that they can’t ever have too many recipes after her presentation.

Oct. 18-20

Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will hold its first yearly garage sale, bake sale with barbecue sandwiches and potato salad in order to raise funds to ship boxes to our military for Christmas. All volunteers or donors are urged to be at the Angel Room, 1020 N. Bus. 45 on Thursday morning (10-18) from 8 a.m. to noon to set up and be assigned schedules. Garage sale will be held Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. For more information call Jean O’Connor at (903) 851-2560.

Kerens Cotton Harvest Festival will be held in downtown Kerens, complete with the Cotton Row Run 1K/5K Walk/Run, vendor booths, hot air balloons, food, music, crafts, lots of fun events for the whole family.

Oct. 19

Hamilton-Beeman Memorial Association will hold its annual meeting at 11 a.m. at Retreat City Hall. Pertinent business as relates to the cemetery will be discussed. There will be a memorial remembrance of all those who passed away this year and are buried at the cemetery. A pot luck luncheon will follow the business meeting. Everyone is welcome, and those who have family buried at Hamilton-Beeman cemetery are especially encouraged to attend.
