A Senior Sock Hop will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Cook Center. This is a free event for any seniors 50 and up and a chaperone. Corsicana Swing Orchestra will play hits from the 50s and 60s. There will be refreshments and a costume contest, so break out the leather jackets and poodle skirts. There will be door prizes, also. You must have a ticket since seating is limited. Pickett Riding Club is ready to ride at the Streetman arena on FM 416. Show starts at 11 a.m. Events are Cloverleaf Barrels, Straightaway Barrels, Poles, Speed, Flag, Potato and Keyhole. Exhibitions are $3, events are $5, and there is a $25 membership per family if you would like to join Pickett Riding Club. Age groups will be 6 and under, 7-9, 10-12, 13-17, and 18 and over. The AARP Driver’s Safety Course for drivers over 50 years young will be hosted by the Young at Heart Group in Dawson at the First Baptist Church’s Activity Center at Main and Fourth Streets. This is a four-hour course of instruction which runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The course is designed to make people with a lot of experience safer drivers and less accident prone as they age.
