Corsicana — The Corsicana Newcomers' Club Supper Club will venture north to Ft Worth to view the Dead See Scrolls exhibit.  Call Marge Oslick at 903-872-3508 for details.

Eureka United Methodist Church, 8644 S. Hwy 287, will hold its Lord’s Acre celebration Oct. 6. Barbecue dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The meal will consist of brisket, pinto beans,  potato salad, bread, pickles, onions and homemade pies with coffee or tea. Adult meals are $8, children age 3 and under are free. The country kitchen will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, 4 to 7 p.m., and the auction will be at 7:30 p.m. The drawing for the quilt will be held during the auction. The American Legion, 632 N. Beaton, will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m.

Frost United Methodist Church will hold its Lord’s Acre celebration on Oct. 6, 2012 in the Frost School Cafeteria. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with take-outs being ready at 11 a.m. The meal will consist of brisket, sausage, chicken, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, cake and tea. Adult meals are $7, children 12 and under are $4. The country store will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the auction will start at 1 p.m.

Oct. 7

Kinsloe House‘s First Sunday Lunch for October will be Oct. 7, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Everyone is invited. Members and non-members must call the Kinsloe House at )903) 874-5791 by Oct. 5, 2012 to make reservations. You must give the time you wish to come and what you wish to eat.  You may also call Jeani at (903) 229-5787 or email her at mamjeani@yahoo.com with your menu, reservations, and your dining time.

Oct. 8

The Republican Party Of Navarro County will hold its next Executive Committee Meeting on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Republican Headquarters, 111-B West Third Avenue, in downtown Corsicana. State Sen. Brian Birdwell and U.S. Rep. Joe Barton will be the guest speakers. The purpose of the meeting is to unify the local party behind our Republican candidates and to push the Get-Out-The-Vote effort for the Nov. 6 General Election. A social time from 6:30 to 7 p.m. will be held, saluting elected officials, hosted by the Navarro County Republican Women. All registered voters are welcome to attend.
