Corsicana — The National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees (NARFE, Chapter 1191), will hold its monthly meeting at the Ryan Buffet Restaurant in Waxahachie from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tina Rider (the North Texas Longterm Care Ombudsman) supervises the ombudsmen in the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in a 14-county area in North Central Texas and operates as part of the North Central Texas Council of Government (NCTCOG). The program she supervises provides residents in long-term care facilities with an objective resource to assist with any concerns they have about their care. Training for VITA volunteers (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Navarro College. VITA site opens Jan. 28 through April 15. Volunteers would act as tax preparers for qualifying low income and elderly individuals. Shifts to work the VITA site are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 5 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.
