Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be at the Corsicana YMCA from 2 to 7 p.m. If you are low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year VITA will see clients with appointments first and then work with walk-ins. VITA is at the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Kerens Library on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.

Corsicana Newcomers' Club Lunch Bunch will meet at  North Shore Harbor Inn at 11:30 a.m. Call Pat Schroeder at (903) 872-9663 to save a spot at the table for you.

April 12

The Navarro County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 9:45 a.m. at Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. The speaker for the program will be Dr. Shellie O’Neal, teacher, actress and playwright. All former school employees are invited.

Woodland Cemetery Committee is holding a fundraiser with home style cooking from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Annex Building, 320 W. Collin, directly behind the public library. You may dine in or take out for a donation of $8. The goal is to raise funds for a concrete walk for the Montgomery Hill addition at Woodland, the area where remains of the slave graves located at Richland-Chambers Reservoir were relocated. On the menu is ham, baked chicken, cabbage, green beans, candied yams, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, salad, corn bread, cake and tea. April 13 and 14

A Spring Home and Garden Expo is taking place at the IOOF Event Center, 601 North 45th Street, Corsicana, sponored by Texas AgriLife. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Home and Garden vendors along with landscape design companies, Master Gardner and educational programs will be offered as well.
