Corsicana — Woodmen of the World, Chapter 5, will have its meeting at 6 p.m. In the Lodge Hall at 200 W. Oak Lawn. There will be a guest speaker, Becky Stephenson, informing about an opportunity to help the community by supporting Piecemakers Quilt Guild in providing special pillows to breast cancer surgery patients at our local hospital.  All members, their families and guests are cordially invited to attend the pot luck supper and business meeting to follow.

July 17

The Corsicana Public Library will host Wild Things Zoofari at 10:30 a.m. for the 2014 Summer Reading Program. Come see exciting exotic animals up close and learn about them in the process. Be inspired to do great things for the protection of exotic animals and their native habitats as adults.

 

July 19

Bazzette/Prairie Point Annual Picnic will be held starting at 8 a.m. at the cemetery. Bring a covered dish, lawn chairs, and enjoy the day. Lunch will be served at noon.

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will a BBQ and CASI Chili Cook Off starting at 8 a.m. at the post. The BBQ contest will include brisket, pork ribs, local chili and beans with trophies awarded for the best tasting entries. The CASI contestants will be competing for points for Terlinqua Cook Off and trophies. Trey Houston and his band will perform from 8 p.m. to closing. July 26

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will host Karaoke Night with Country Sue from 8 p.m. to midnight. For further information call 903-874-3938 after 2 p.m.

July 27

  The Oak Valley School Ex-Students are having their annual reunion starting with a 12:30 p.m. lunch at 2211 Oak Valley Lane in Corsicana. There will be a short business meeting. Ex-students and guests are invited, and asked to bring salads and deserts. For more information, contact Linda Bennett at 903-872-3168.
