Jan. 28

The jury panel called for Justice of the Peace Court at 10 a.m. by Judge Vicki Gray has been cancelled. Those called for the jury panel need not report. This affects only Judge Vicki Gray's Justice of the Peace Court.

The Navarro County Republican Women will host their first meeting of the new year with a social time and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. The meeting and program will begin promptly at noon at the Republican Headquarters, 111-B West Third Avenue. Guest speaker will be Karen Watson, author of the book “Being Black and Republican in the Age of Obama.” Make your lunch reservations by contacting Sue Ferguson at 903-641-0357. Lunch is $7 at the door.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site open from 2 until 7 p.m. to assist the elderly and low income file their tax returns at the Corsicana YMCA.  Call Judy Kilgore at 281-682-0928 or Stuart Schoppert at 903-875-9310 to schedule an appointment.  Walk-ins are welcome but will be worked around those having appointments.

Jan. 29

Navarro Regional Hospital is hosting a free smoking cessation presentation by the American Lung Association on Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. in the classrooms at the hospital. This hour-long program is open to the community. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to Anna Paul at anna.paul@navarrohospital.com or call 903-654-6870.
