Corsicana — Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975 or in any duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
G.W. Jackson Heritage Rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. at the Navarro County Exposition Center. This pro rodeo still needs sponsorships. All funds raised will go toward construction of the G.W. Show starts at 11 a.m. Events are Cloverleaf Barrels, Straightaway Barrels, Poles, Speed, Flag, Potato and Keyhole. Exhibitions are $3, events are $5, and there is a $25 membership per family if you would like to join Pickett Riding Club. Age groups will be 6 and under, 7-9, 10-12, 13-17, and 18 and over.
