The American Legion, Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will a BBQ and CASI Chili Cook Off starting at 8 a.m.. at the post.  The BBQ contest will include brisket, pork ribs, local chili and beans with trophies awarded for the best tasting entries.  The CASI contestants will be competing for points for Terlinqua Cook Off and trophies.   For further information call 903-874-3938 after 2 p.m.  Like us on Facebook (American Legion Post 22 Johnson-Wiggins). 

 

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. May 8

The Corsicana Newcomers' Club Lunch Bunch will meet at Carpenter's Hamburgers at 11:30 a.m.  Bring your appetite but call Pat Schroeder at 903-872-9663 first to save you a spot.

May 9

The Navarro County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. At the Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. A catered lunch will be served. Reservations are required and may be made by calling treasurer Kathy Huffman at (903) 654-2849 by Tuesday, May 6. Cost for the luncheon is $7.50. Laura Rothrock, District XII president, Retired Teachers Association, will give an update on the State Convention. State and local dues will be accepted; State $35, local $10. All retired school employees are invited to attend.

Oakwood Odyssey, presented by the Navarro County Genealogical Society and Liz Gillespie Genealogy Department, is a walking tour of a section of the old historic Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana. You will be guided by volunteers who will lead you down the path to meet past residents of our city who left their mark on our town, county and state. Tickets are $10 each. Call (903) 654-4808 to get your tour booked now. First come first serve. Tours will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the last tour starting at 8:30 p.m. Wear walking shoes for comfort.
