The Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre will preent “The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild” by award-winning playwright Paul Zindel. Evening performances are May 9-10, 13, 15-17 begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee on Mother’s Day, May 11, begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the Warehouse Living Arts Center which is located at 119 West Sixth Avenue across from the post office. The Navarro County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. At the Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. A catered lunch will be served. Reservations are required and may be made by calling treasurer Kathy Huffman at (903) 654-2849 by Tuesday, May 6. Cost for the luncheon is $7.50. Laura Rothrock, District XII president, Retired Teachers Association, will give an update on the State Convention. State and local dues will be accepted; State $35, local $10. All retired school employees are invited to attend.
Sugar Rush for a Cure, the American Cancer Society Navarro County Relay for Life team, will sponsor a lunch time special from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Super One Foods, 100 N. 15th St. Taco salad (beef or chicken) with all the trimmings and a drink will be available, along with sweet treats such as Snicker bars, sliced cake, and more. Oakwood Odyssey, presented by the Navarro County Genealogical Society and Liz Gillespie Genealogy Department, is a walking tour of a section of the old historic Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana. You will be guided by volunteers who will lead you down the path to meet past residents of our city who left their mark on our town, county and state. Tickets are $10 each. Call (903) 654-4808 to get your tour booked now. First come first serve. Tours will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the last tour starting at 8:30 p.m. Wear walking shoes for comfort.
