The Shakers & Scrapers Car Club will hold their monthly meeting at VG'z pavilion 301 E. Third Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Shakers and Scrapers are a very diverse group of folks with a common interest of cars and a desire to help local charities and events. We hold an annual car show during Derrick Days which helps to support a local charity. VFW on West Hwy 31 will host Country Sue Karoake from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. Come out, meet friends, and have a fun evening.
Back to School/Stay in School Rally will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at IOOF Event Center, corner of 45th St. and Second Ave. Family members, students, youth of all ages, community members and educators are welcome to come meet CISD Administrators, principals and teachers. There wil be vendor booths, giveaways, games, activities and more. Busses will arrive at 8 a.m. at Bowie, Carroll, Drane, Navarro, Sam Houston, Fannin, Travis and the Northwest Apartments to pick up adults and students, and will return them to the school site after 12 noon. The Corsicana Art League resumes after a summer break. There will be a "pitch-in" dinner at the Senior Activity Center at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug 19. Artists are invited to bring one or two paintings to be critiqued by the group. Bring your favorite dish and a friend. For more info call (903) 519-9082.
Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at 6 p.m. each Tuesday, in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Annex, 417 W. Collin St., Corsicana. All are welcome to learn to give and receive support at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday of the month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psychologist, joins the group discussions on various aspects of mental health. For more information call (903) 872-6302.
