Through March 9

Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. is one of musical theater's brightest and most innovative shows, and will be performed by the Corsicana Children’s Company of Warehouse Living Arts Theatre. It’s based on the Emmy Award winning 1970's educational animated TV series. The show runs March 8 and 9 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and $6 for kids 12 and under. March 8

Bark for Life (sponsored by the American Cancer Society) will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bunert Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., $10 per dog. It is a non-competitve walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer. Also at the event will be a CASI-qualifying chili cookoff event, and a Car Show sponsored by Cars of Navarro County.



When Are We Going Home Ministry and Break N Free Camp presents the Riding High Horsemanship Program to be held at 4719 NECR 1040 in Rice. Call for directions and to RSVP to (903) 422-6120. This event is free and open to all medically challenged, special needs and disabled children and foster children and their immediate siblings up to the age of 21. Lunch will be provided. A handicapped ramp is available, as well as side/front walkers, and a playground. The event will include riding, saddling, safety, feeding and care of horses, and a short devotion.



Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will meet at 9 a.m. at 1020 N. Bus. 45. All ages are welcome to come pack. If anyone knows someone serving in harm’s way, please bring their address to the packing so we can send a gift box. For more information call Jean O’Connor at (903) 851-2560.



VFW Post 3366, off W. Hwy 31 on Veterans Drive will host Randy Blue and the Full House Band from 8 p.m. to midnight. For more information call (903) 872-3811.



The Navarro County Genealogical Society will meet at the Nancy Roberts Meeting Room at Corsicana Public Library at 10 a.m. Richard Parker will make a presentation on how he went

about getting his own family history published. His two beautiful books have been a recent donation to the Corsicana Public Library. The public is cordially invited to attend. For more information, call (903) 654-4808.



The Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force meets at the Tucker Hardgrave Memorial Hangar at the south end of C. David Campbell Field, the Corsicana Municipal Airport.  It is highway trash pick up day, so come at 8 a.m. to help! There will be a staff meeting at 10 a.m. with the general meeting to follow at 10:30 a.m.  Prospective members and the public are invited to attend the general meeting.  



The Shakers and Scrapers car club will host their first cruise in of the season this Saturday March 8 starting at 3 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade on Seventh Ave. Come on out and see all the cool cars. We are a family oriented group of folks, so bring the kids and your camera and join us.



March 9

A benefit for Eddie Smith will be held at The Remington, 122 W. Third Ave., from 1 to 7 p.m. There will be live music by Faster Horses and Sissy Perry with Robert Horvath and the Groovetones. Live auction as well. Eddie Smith suffered a heart attack which resulted in being transported by air ambulance. He and his family are self-employed and have no health insurance. The Remington is acception donations for raffle/auction items and food to serve, as well as cash donations. An account is established at Chase Bank in the name of Smith Benefit.



March 10

Woodmen of the World Chapter 5 will have its pot luck dinner and business meeting on March 10 at 6 p.m. in the Lodge Hall at 200 W. Oak lawn. All members, their families and guests are cordially invited.



Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild was delayed from Monday, March 3 due to weather. It will meet today at 10 a.m. at Westhill Church of Christ.

March 11

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call 903-872-5072.



NARFE, National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1191, will hold its next monthly meeting at the Grand Ennis Buffet, 201 South I-45 in Ennis from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Debbie Tahiri, Mature Driver Program Coordinator, Hillcrest Regional Trauma Services, Waco, will be the guest speaker. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice sponsors a “Healing through Grief” support group that meets for lunch the second Wednesday of each quarter in the Corsicana office at 625 N. Main at noon. Please RSVP by March 7. Please call Tricia or Fran at 903-874-4745 for more information.



The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will host a Shuffle Board Tournament, starting at 7 p.m., with a per person entry fee of $5. The Kinsloe House will repesent “Hippity Hoppity to the Annual Easter Parade.” The Easter Bunny will make an appearance, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Kinsloe members will serve as models for the style show. March 14

Fish Fry to be held at the Benedictine Monastery of Thien Tam (Heavenly Heart) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The monastery is located at 13055 SE County Road 4271 Kerens, TX 75144, located off Hwy 287 and Monastery Way. The Navarro County Retired Teachers will meet at 9:45 a.m. at Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. Marsha Banks will review the book “Until Tuesday” by Luis Montalfan. All former school employees are invited to attend.



March 15

Corsicana Vendor’s Day will be held at 801 N. 13th St. from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This show will benefit the Navarro County Food Pantry. Vendors will do individual raffles for items at their booths with cash from these raffles being donated to the Food Pantry in order to purchase food in bulk from the food bank. Each customer that brings in items for the food pantry will be given an entry for the door prize. Five items equals five entries.

March 16

Benefit and Auction for Bruce Adams will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Remington Ranch Event Center, 122 W. Third Ave., Corsicana. On July 4, 2013, Adams suffered a stroke and was transported by air ambulance to Baylor. He had a second stroke in the emergency room, and was in the hospital for several months. Since he has not been able to return to work, family and friends are hosting this brisket lunch benefit and auction to help him with his mounting medical bills. Adams served as a volunteer firefighter for 15 years for the Navarro Volunteer Fire Department, and they are assisting with the auction. Ira Bradford and Bustin’ Loose will perform. There will be a raffle, door prizes, and an auction at 3 p.m. For more information contact Michelle at 903-641-8068.



March 17

Corsicana Art League will meet at 6 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center. Bruce Peil will do a demonstration for this meeting. Bruce is a talented artist from Athens, and is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and co-founder of the Outdoor Painters Society. Please join us and bring a friend.
