Training for VITA volunteers (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Navarro College. VITA site opens Jan. 28 through April 15. Volunteers would act as tax preparers for qualifying low income and elderly individuals. Shifts to work the VITA site are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 5 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will host Karaoke Night with Country Sue from 8 p.m. to midnight. The G.W. Jackson Multi-Cultural Society will hold a fundraiser concert at 6:30 at the IOOF Event Center. Ricky Walter will serve as emcee. Headlining the acts will be Timothy Curry of Austin, joined by Gospel Five, NC Chosen Ministries, Straightations, Lifeline Church Praise Dancers, and the Grace Praise Group. This Gospel Extravaganza is in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but will raise funds to be used toward the construction of the G.W. Jackson Multi-Cultural Society building.

The Warehouse Living Arts Center will open the 43rd consecutive season with “Moonlight and Magnolias” by Ron Hutchison on Thursday, Jan. 30. The cast features Mark Bedgood, Brad Cook, Marissa Hoskins Dobbs and Frank Means. Other performance dates are Jan. 31, Feb. 1-2, 4, 6-7-8. Evening show starts at 7:30 p.m.; the matinee on Feb. 2 starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the theatre box office at 119 West 6th Avenue in downtown Corsicana across from the post office. G.W. Jackson Heritage Rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. at the Navarro County Exposition Center. This pro rodeo still needs sponsorships. All funds raised will go toward construction of the G.W. Jackson Multi-Cultural Society building, to be located upon the site of the G.W. Jackson home. For more information, contact Charles Betts at (903) 654-4279.
