The Warehouse Living Arts Center will hold auditions for the spring youth production on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. in the main theatre located at 119 West Sixth Ave.  C. David Hill will direct “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” This beloved classic requires a very large cast.  Over 30 roles are available for adults of all ages, teens, tweens and kids ages 5 and up. The production dates are March 6-7-8-9 and 10, 2013.  Those who plan to audition should bring school schedules, date books, work schedules, etc. in order for fill out a detailed rehearsal availability form.  The theatre is located at 119 West 6th Avenue in downtown Corsicana across from the post office. Jan. 21

The Navarro County Branch of the NAACP remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with “A Day of Celebration” to include a rally at Bunert Park at 10 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Kenneth Walton Jr., pastor of First Independent Baptist Church. Following will be a march to the MLK Center for an oratory contest at noon. Everyone is welcome to participate. Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance Corsicana will sponsor the Sixth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 6 p.m. at the Calvary Worship Center, 1364 North Beaton Street, Gary Johnson, pastor.  Pastor Charles Washington of Haynes Memorial Church of God In Christ of Mexia will be the guest speaker. “ A Day On, Not A Day Off,”  Living the Dream is the theme. Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., is chairman of the event. Co-Sponsors are Evangelist Cathy Douglas, Minister Margret Evans, Penny Liggins, Minister Valerie Horn, and Minister Orlando Williams. Rehearsal dates are January 7, and 14 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church at 7 p.m. The organizers are asking all church choirs to support this effort.

Corsicana Children’s Company creative dramatics and acting classes for Grades K, 1, 2 will begin on Monday, Jan. 21 for a 10-week session. No experience is necessary. Students will have fun exploring the world of the stage through creative play with costumes, creating characters from favorite fairy tales and stories while learning varied theatre games and activities that will develop the imagination. At the end of the semester the students will present a showcase performance for friends and family! Classes are held at the Warehouse Living Arts Center, 119 W 6th Avenue in downtown Corsicana.
