Corsicana Children’s Company creative dramatics and acting classes for Grades 3, 4, 5 will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 22 for a 10-week session. No experience is necessary. Through fun theatre games, improvisation, and unscripted scene work, this class introduces dramatic concepts like characterization, story structure, and projection. At the end of the semester the students will present a showcase performance for friends and family! Classes are held at the Warehouse Living Arts Center, 119 W 6th Avenue in downtown Corsicana. Call (903) 872-5421 for registration information.

The Celebrity Wait, a fundraiser to benefit the Corsicana Residential Treatment Center, will be held from 11 a.m. to close at La Pradera Mexican Restaurant at 1401 W. Seventh Ave. Come out for great food and fun and help raise money to benefit the youth at the “Corsicana State Home.” Local celebrities including ministers, city and county officials, perhaps your veterinarian or college dean will be waiting tables throughout the day and evening. Special entertainment will be provided by Steve Colburn from 6 to 8 p.m. All tips go toward the kids at Corsicana Residential Treatment Center, to provide birthdays, visits with family, and other “extras” the state doesn’t cover.

Jan. 23

The  Kinsloe House Auditing Committee, headed by Jan Noblett, with Seley Fuller, Ruth Scott, and Arlene Stewart will have its program at Kinsloe House at 12 noon. Members who attend will go on a trip to the ancient kingdoms.  Sandra Curtis and Arliss Watson will bring travel highlights, collected souvenirs, and pictures from their exotic and colorful trip to the Orient — Thailand, Laos, Viet Nam, and Cambodia.  This should be a wonderful presentation for all to see. Make your reservations and cancellations by noon, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 by calling (903) 874-5791.
