Oct. 2

Eureka Crime Watch will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Special guest will be Dick Martin, Precinct 2 County Commissioner. The public is invited for this informative meeting and the fellowship which follows. Refreshments will be served.

The Kinsloe House  will present an interesting and entertaining program by one of its members, Mary Lou McKie, who will discuss Vanderbilt family memorabilia. Mary Lou was married to Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr.  Join us as she shares memorabilia and experiences as a member of the Vanderbilt family. Members don’t want to miss the chance to hear about the Vanderbilts and see some of the gorgeous jewelry and other items Mary Lou will exhibit. The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the post. The Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Historical Society Building, across from city hall. County Commissioner James Olsen will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome.

Navarro College Ability Awareness Club will recognize Ability Awareness Day with an informative session from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside of the Gooch One Stop Student Center on the clock tower side with free food, information and interaction. From 6 to 8 p.m. at the Special Events Center there will be UTA Moving Mavs wheelchair basketball. An art exhibit at the Cook Center will wrap up today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. which features art done by disabled artists. The mid-day event will have representatives from Turning Point, a non-profit 501(c)(3) with 34 years experience providing free adapted outdoor recreational activities; United Access, an industry-leading provider of wheelchair accessible vehicles, driving systems, mobility seats, handicap lifts, etc.; DARS, MHMR, Mosaic and more.
