Corsicana — The Dawson National Honor Society is honoring its local heroes at a Veterans Day Assembly at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 11, 2013 in the Dawson gymnasium. All local veterans and their families are encouraged to get an information form from the Dawson High School front office or download one from our website and turn in or email to leigh.white@dawsonisd.net no later than Wednesday, Oct. 30 so the NHS can honor you with a certificate of appreciation that day at the ceremony, or if your Vet can’t be in attendance a certificate will be mailed. If you have any questions please call the Dawson office at (254) 578-1031 and direct any questions to Leigh Hulin-White, the Dawson NHS sponsor.

Nov. 12

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. For further information, please call (903) 872-5072.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting. They welcome any Veteran as an associate member who served honorably.

The National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting at the Sirloin Stockade restaurant in Corsicana from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. A representative from Blue-Cross-Blue Shield will be our guest speaker.  The presentation will include an overview of the FEHB program and prospective changes to the program.  Members, guests, and all who are part of our federal family come join us. For membership information contact the closest NARFE representative near to you, in Corsicana call 903-874-3092.

Nov. 14

Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle Chapter will celebrate its Fifth Anniversary with Boots and Bangles Expo and Dinner. Expo begins at 5 p.m. and event at 6 p.m. at the IOOF Event Center. Singers Byron Haynie and Taylor Parks will entertain. There will be a photo booth. Bring a non-perishable donation for the local food pantry. This event is free for Senior Circle members, and $15 for non-members (which includes a one-year membership).
