Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County

Nov. 6

Eureka Crime Watch will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Special guest will be Mildred ISD Superintendent Becky Burns who will provide updates on school programs, etc. The public is invited for this informative meeting and the fellowship which follows. Refreshments will be served.

American Legion Auxiliary will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Post. All members are urged to attend as final plans will be made for our Thanksgiving Dinner for active military, Veterans and their families.

Nov. 7

Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. in the Blooming Grove Historical Society building. Guest speaker will be Jenny Bratton, director of the Child Advocacy Center in Corsicana. Everyone is welcome to attend.

“An Evening of Honor” a musical performance to honor local veterans, will take place at 7 p.m. in the Fannin Elementary School gym and hosted by the Fine Arts Department. The event will feature patriotic music performed by the first, second and third graders, as well as a color guard from the Corsicana High School ROTC. Veterans from Fannin families will be special guests. It is free and open to the public.

American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana. In addition to helping save a life by giving blood, the Red Cross is also asking for donations of new winter clothing, such as sweatshirts and sweatpants, which are included on response vehicles when responding to house fires and disasters during cold fall and winter months.

Nov. 8

The Navarro County Retired Teachers will meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. The program will be presented by Jean O’Connor, representing Angels of Corsicana Troop Support. Members of RTA are asked to bring the following items to be sent to the troops for Christmas: white or black crew socks, dried fruit snacks, breakfast or energy bars, hard candies individually wrapped, popcorn, individual coffee and tea packs, chocolate bars, hand/foot warmers, motel size hygiene items, foot or baby powder (trial sized), small packs of batteries, handy wipes, decks of playing cards, jerky, assorted snacks, soups, pens, pencils, small flashlights, toothpaste and toothbrush, hair comb and brush, nail clippers, or money for postage. Any items you can bring will be appreciated.
