Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be at the Corsicana YMCA from 2 to 7 p.m. If you are low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year VITA will see clients with appointments first and then work with walk-ins. VITA is at the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Kerens Library on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.

Corsicana Newcomers' Club Lunch Bunch will meet at  North Shore Harbor Inn at 11:30 a.m. Call Pat Schroeder at (903) 872-9663 to save a spot at the table for you.

April 12

The Navarro County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 9:45 a.m. at Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. The speaker for the program will be Dr. Shellie O’Neal, teacher, actress and playwright. All former school employees are invited.

April 13 and 14

A Spring Home and Garden Expo is taking place at the IOOF Event Center, 601 North 45th Street, Corsicana, sponored by Texas AgriLife. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Home and Garden vendors along with landscape design companies, Master Gardner and educational programs will be offered as well. Admission is $5 adults, children under 12 are free. For more information, contact Logan Lair at Texas AgriLife, at 903-654-3075.

April 13

Crystal Shepherd Benefit Softball Tournament will be held at Lake Halbert Park beginning at 10 a.m. This is a Lake Halbert Softball Association rules tournament. Prizes will be awarded to champions and runners-up, as well as home run derby winners. There will be men’s and co-ed games. Entry fee is $150. The Second Annual Richland Craft and Vendor Fair will be held at 103 W Main St., Civic Center, Richland. Inside space w/table $25; outside covered space w/table $15; outside space no cover or table $10. All vendors also donate two non-perishable food items to the Richland food pantry. A portion of the table rental proceeds will go to the volunteer fire department. All interested vendors should contact Leigh Tidwell (972) 979-9731 or ltidwell74@hotmail.com by March 16 to reserve a space.
