Woodland Cemetery Committee is holding a fundraiser with home style cooking from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Annex Building, 320 W. Collin, directly behind the public library. You may dine in or take out for a donation of $8. The goal is to raise funds for a concrete walk for the Montgomery Hill addition at Woodland, the area where remains of the slave graves located at Richland-Chambers Reservoir were relocated. On the menu is ham, baked chicken, cabbage, green beans, candied yams, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, salad, corn bread, cake and tea. A Spring Home and Garden Expo is taking place at the IOOF Event Center, 601 North 45th Street, Corsicana, sponored by Texas AgriLife. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Home and Garden vendors along with landscape design companies, Master Gardner and educational programs will be offered as well. Crystal Shepherd Benefit Softball Tournament will be held at Lake Halbert Park beginning at 10 a.m. This is a Lake Halbert Softball Association rules tournament. Prizes will be awarded to champions and runners-up, as well as home run derby winners. There will be men’s and co-ed games. Entry fee is $150. Main Street Program of City of Corsicana in conjunction with Cars of Navarro County will hold a Second Saturday Cruise In from 5 to 8 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee, with 11 trophies to be given. Registration will close at 6 p.m. The car show will take place at Third Ave. and Beaton St. There will be two blues bands playing, dance lessons, a 50/50 jar, and the party will continue after the car show until 10 p.m. All proceeds raised by the car show will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will hold a packing at 9 a.m. at the Angel Room, 1020 N. Bus. 45. All ages are welcome to come pack. Please bring the name of a military member serving in harm’s way with you to the packing so we can do a gift box for our military members. There will be a special meeting following the packing for sign up for our semi-annual barbecue, bake and garage sale, which will be held the first weekend of May. Donations will be accepted from anyone wishing to help raise funds for postage of boxes for our military. Lakeside United Methodist Church will hold a music festival to raise funds for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The church, located on FM 416, will be the location for music and food from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Musical acts include LUMC Choir and Ensembles, The Fog, The Corsicana Cloggers, Todd Jones and the Groove Tones, John Byron Haynie and special guest Christi Driskell, Bella Voce, and AzureBlue Trio. There will be booths, hamburgers, hot dogs, tamales, homemade baked goods, a silent auction, bounce house, face painting, crafts, and a quilt drawing, as well as Luminaries for purchase. The Carter BloodCare Mobile unit will be on site. Admission is free, but bring your own chairs.
The Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Tucker Hardgrave Memorial Hangar at the south end of C. David Campbell Field, the Corsicana Municipal Airport. There will be a staff meeting at 10 a.m. with the general meeting to follow. Prospective members and the public are invited to attend the general meeting. The Squadron is preparing for the 15th Annual Corsicana Airsho to be held Saturday, May 11, 2013.
Kerens Ex-Students Association (KESA) will host Bobcat Bistro from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KESA building in Kerens. Please join us for Second Sunday lunch and help support KESA scholarship program. On the menu is Chicken Alfredo or German Meat and Potato Casserole, choice of two: fresh broccoli salad, special green beans or carrots; choice of Grandma’s Lemon Poppy Seed Cake or Country Peach Cobbles. Dawson Lions Club invites all to come eat and bid for a bargain on items supplied by handicrafters and local merchants to help the Lions Club of Dawson support the community. The VFW Post 3366 will have its end of the month dance on April 20 due to Derrick Days being on the 27th. The band will be Heart of Texas Road Gang! Dance starts at 8 p.m. and will end around midnite. There is no cover charge. Donations will be accepted to help pay the band. Come out for a great night of fellowship and dancing.
Inaugural Rope for Rylance Memorial Team Roping will be held at Freestone County Cowboy Church arena, Hwy 84 between Fairfield and Teague. Books open at 12 noon, roping begins at 1 p.m. Alternate rainout date is May 4, same time and location. Admission is free, donations will be accepted for the Rylance Memorial Fund. The first event will be completely to help the family of Rylance, who passed away Dec. 28, 2012 at the age of 10 months and 18 days, with hospital and burial expenses. There will be a silent auction following the roping events, with a grand prize for the roping being a Two-Horse slant bumper trailer with walk-in tack room. Concession stand will be provided by Cowboy Church. Each year’s event following the inaugural event will go towards a scholarship in Rylance’s name.

Mystery Art in Tuckertown is a silent auction and reception featuring local artists. This fundraiser supports the efforts of both the Navarro Council of the Arts and VOICE. “Pillars of our Past, Celebrating the people, places, and events in Navarro County History” will be the theme this year. Mystery Art in Tuckertown will feature 8 x 10 art work with silent bids starting at $35. The art will be on display at the Warehouse Living Arts Center April 17-26. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975.
