The Navarro County Courthouse Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on the northwest corner of the courthouse lawn. The speaker will be Ron Wright, former president of Vietnam Veterans of America, Navarro Rifles Chapter 1009. Wright grew up in Waxahachie, and has lived in Corsicana over 11 years. He was in the Army from 1966 to 1975, and saw combat during the Vietnam War, earning numerous medals and citations.
Memorial Day Service at Woodland Memorial Cemetery will be held at 1 p.m. Guest speaker will be Col. Bill Downey, the grandson of legendary first black veterinarian in the state of Texas. The theme will be “Gone, But Not Forgotten.” Sponsored by the Single Believers Ministries and Woodland Cemetery Association. When Are We Going Home Ministry will hold its Spirit Sent Music Ministry at New Beginnings Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove at 6 p.m. with its Annual Luau Party.
