The Warehouse Living Arts Center will present MAMA WON’T FLY opening on Thursday, Sept. 12. The mad-cap, family-friendly comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten involves an outrageous race against the clock when Savannah (Darlene Pleiner) agrees to get her feisty mother (Norma Russell) all the way from Alabama to California in time for her brother’s wedding to Hayley (Annot Walthall). Savannah’s problem: Mama won’t fly! The cast, led by Russell, Pleiner and Walthall also features a large cast of talented supporting actors including: Debbie Bigler, Sharon Goodman, Debbie Hanks, Irvin Horn, Randy Jones, Sandra McClure Mahood, Ron Motley, Kevin Painter, Grace Sowell and Adam Walthall. MAMA WON'T FLY opens Sept. 12 with a performance at 7:30 p.m., followed by the opening night gala. The Shakers and Scrapers Car Club will hold a fundraiser car show in the parking lot at Chili’s from 6 to 9 p.m. Come see the awesome classic cars, motorcycles and race cars. The car with the most donations wins dinner for two. Join the fun and help cure cancer. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The Navarro County Retired Teachers will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. The program will be presented by Catherine Gatz on benefits for teachers. All retired school employees are invited to attend.
