Corsicana — The Shakers and Scrapers Car Club will have a Cruise-in and food drive at 3 p.m. This will all be held at the corner of First and Beaton (at the old Stewart Motor Co. Bldg). It is also the food drive for Thanksgiving, so if you would like to donate some canned goods to the food drive it would be much appreciated.

 

Nov. 11

Woodmen of the World Lodge 5's Thanksgiving meeting will be at the Lone Star Room of the Kenneth Walker Dining Hall at Navarro College at 6 p.m. RSVP by Nov. 6 to 903-874-7050.

The Dawson National Honor Society is honoring its local heroes at a Veterans Day Assembly at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 11, 2013 in the Dawson gymnasium. All local veterans and their families are encouraged to attend.

Nov. 12

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call (903) 872-5072.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting. They welcome any Veteran as an associate member who served honorably.

The National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting at the Sirloin Stockade restaurant in Corsicana from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A representative from Blue-Cross-Blue Shield will be our guest speaker. For membership information contact the closest NARFE representative near to you, in Corsicana call 903-874-3092.

Navarro County NAACP will meet at 7 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Community Center, 1114 E. Sixth Ave. All Navarro County citizens are welcome to attend.

Nov. 13

The Kinsloe House Furnishings Committee with Linda Fannin and Carolyn French co-chairs will present Sheriff Elmer Tanner of Navarro County. Sheriff Tanner will present a program titled “ Don’t Let the Grinch Steal your Christmas.” He will speak to attendees about staying safe during the holidays and about the workings of the Navarro County Sheriff’s Department to keep the citizens of Navarro County safe. The House will be decorated with stuffed animals that will be presented to Sheriff Tanner to take back to the department for use in incidents involving children. Members are encouraged to come to learn how we can stay safe not only during the holidays but at all times. Reservations or cancellations must be made by noon, Monday Nov.11 by calling the Kinsloe House at 903-874-5791 or emailing your reservation to kinsloehouse@yahoo.
