Corsicana — Wortham Volunteer Fire Department will hold its Annual Barbecue and cake auction at 6 p.m. Adults are $8 and kids are $5. Door prizes will be given. Please come out and support your local volunteer fire department.

Wortham Chamber of Commerce will hold its Inaugual Craft Fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Wortham. During the day the Wortham cheerleaders will have a carwash to raise money for camp. Stop by downtown, leave your car to be washed, enjoy some shopping with the craft fair, then round off the evening with a great plate of barbecue that evening at the Wortham VFD Barbecue and Cake auction.

May 5

Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University will begin a new session at Corsicana Word Alive Church located at 600 N 45th Street in Corsicana. The classes will begin Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 6 p.m. Contact Gary Stone at (903) 875-1922 for more information or to register.

Kinsloe House will have its first Sunday luncheon for May. This luncheon is always a fun time to come with your friends and have a delightful meal. Since the first Sunday falls on Cinco de Mayo we will be serving wonderful Mexican fare. There will be a Mexican Caesar salad and either beef and cheese enchiladas or Spanish crusted breast of chicken with the trimmings. There will also be your choice of Tres Leches or lemon cheesecake for dessert. Invite your friends, make reservations, and come from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please call and make reservations by May 3, 2013 to the Kinsloe House at (903) 874-5791. You can give your menu selections at that time.

May 6

The City Of Blooming Grove will hold its Monthly City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Blooming Grove City Hall, 200 S. Fordyce, Blooming Grove, TX  76626.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet at the Westhill Church of Christ for refreshments  and gossip from 9:30 to 10 a.m.  After a short business meeting the remainder of the day will be dedicated to making Quilts of Valor for our Wounded Warriors returning home.  Please bring your sewing equipment, fabrics and imagination to contribute to this most worthwhile project. There will be a potluck lunch so bring your favorite covered dish to share.  All quilters and “wanna-be” quilters are invited.
