Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle presents AARP Drivers Safety Course in the Navarro Regional hospital classrooms from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This refresher course is designed for drivers 50 years and beter, but is open to anyone. Contact Connie Beal for more information at (903) 654-6892.

May 17

The Goodlow Community will celebrate its Second Annual May Fest 2013 at 201 State Highway 309, Goodlow Community CEnter. Booth spaces are available for purchase at $35 per space until May 17. To rent a booth, call (903) 851-1279 or (903) 396-7862. Booths may not be purchased for the sale of water, drinks or snow cones. The community is invited to come out for a day of food, fun and activity.

May 18

Navarro County Genealogical Society will take a field trip to Mesquite Cemetery at 5 p.m. Tickets must be reserved in advance by calling (972) 216-6468. Reserve your space for the 6:30 performance. Nine characters will bring their history to life, and the tour is about 45 minutes. The group will meet at the parking lot behind the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce at 5 p.m. They will not make time to stop to eat so please plan accordingly. If you do not drive in the metroplex or at night, please call (903) 654-4808 to arrange a ride.

The Emhouse 53rd School Reunion will be held at 11 a.m. at the Taylorosa Event Center on West Hwy. 22 and FM 744 in Corsicana. All faculty, students and friends are welcomed to attend and share some time to relive those wonderful years at Emhouse School. At our last reunion we had school students from 1941 through 1959 when the school closed. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite dish to share a great meal with our friends. Dinner will begin at 12 noon after gathering at 11 a.m., and we’ll be dismissed by 2 p.m. Please make plans to attend.

May 19

The Hopewell Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at the cemetery at 11 a.m. The speaker and business meeting will be first, followed by a covered dish lunch afterwards. If inclement weather, we will meet at the Navarro City Hall. Doug Jordan of Nacogdoches, a descendent of the Harvards and Boyds will be the guest speaker. Attendance is encouraged and appreciated.
