March 15

Corsicana Vendor’s Day will be held at 801 N. 13th St. from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This show will benefit the Navarro County Food Pantry. Vendors will do individual raffles for items at their booths with cash from these raffles being donated to the Food Pantry in order to purchase food in bulk from the food bank. Each customer that brings in items for the food pantry will be given an entry for the door prize. Five items equals five entries.



The Jackson Ex-Students Association will hold a bake sale and raffle at The Bears Den, 802 S. Second St., with all proceeds going to the JESA Scholarship Fund. Delicious cakes and pies, including buttermilk pies, sweet potato pies, pecan pies, and assorted cakes will be available. March 16

Benefit and Auction for Bruce Adams will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Remington Ranch Event Center, 122 W. Third Ave., Corsicana. On July 4, 2013, Adams suffered a stroke and was transported by air ambulance to Baylor. He had a second stroke in the emergency room, and was in the hospital for several months. Since he has not been able to return to work, family and friends are hosting this brisket lunch benefit and auction to help him with his mounting medical bills. Adams served as a volunteer firefighter for 15 years for the Navarro Volunteer Fire Department, and they are assisting with the auction. Ira Bradford and Bustin’ Loose will perform. There will be a raffle, door prizes, and an auction at 3 p.m. For more information contact Michelle at 903-641-8068.

Corsicana Art League will meet at 6 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center. Bruce Peil will do a demonstration for this meeting. Bruce is a talented artist from Athens, and is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and co-founder of the Outdoor Painters Society. Please join us and bring a friend.

State Representative Byron Cook will be the featured speaker at a meeting of the Navarro County Republican Women. United Way of Navarro County is presenting a fundraising Style Show and Expo from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cook Center at Navarro College. Tickets are $20 per person, or a VIP table of 8 is available for $250. The style show will feature fashions from several local merchants, and food samples will be provided from a variety of local restaurants. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The Hop Downtown – Annual event sponsored by our local businesses,  Corsicana Main Street Program, and Corsicana Parks and Recreation. There will be games for the kids, a bounce house, face painting, a drawing for bicycles and Easter baskets, photos in Pocket Park (2 – 4 x 6 photos for $15,) refreshments, and of course the star of the day… the Easter Bunny, who will be visiting with children and passing out Easter eggs and goodies. 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. (Weather permitting.) When Are We Going Home Ministry and Break N Free Camp presents the Riding High Horsemanship Program to be held at 4719 NE CR 1040 in Rice. Call for directions and to RSVP to (903) 422-6120 (to get an accurate count). This event is free and open to all medically challenged, special needs and disabled children and foster children and their immediate siblings up to the age of 21. Lunch will be provided, just bring lawn chairs, yourself and your family. A handicapped ramp is available, as well as side/front walkers, and a playground. The event will include riding, saddling, safety, feeding and care of horses, and a short devotion.



April 25

The Second Annual Oil Baron’s Ball will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at The Corsicana Opry & Event Center at 205 East Fifth Avenue in downtown Corsicana. This unique event will feature fine food, live music by the Phares Corder Orchestra, and dancing. Valet parking will be available to the guests. Attire is “boots & suits” for gentlemen and cocktail attire for ladies. Tickets are $150 per person or tables of 6 for $1,000 (limited seating). The Navarro County Derrick Days Pro Rodeo is scheduled for April 25-26 at the Navarro County Exposition Center. Gates  will open at 6 p.m., mutton bustin’ starts at 7 and the rodeo starts at 8. April 26

Corsicana Parks and Recreation Department presents Biker Bash III/Poker Run with kickstands up at 10 a.m. This 100-miles tri-county ride will begin at the Corsicana Government Center, and end at OT’s Sports Bar and Grill. Registration is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the gate the day of, or you may pre-register by calling (903) 654-4874. Your registration fee ($20 pre, $25 at the gate) will include the poker hand, T-shirt, lunch, and entry for the bike show and contests. There will be a tattoo contest, bike show, 50/50 drawing and more.

G.W. Jackson Heritage Rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. at the Navarro County Exposition Center. This pro rodeo still needs sponsorships. All funds raised will go toward construction of the G.W. The 10th Annual VOICE Spring Night Out will be held at 5:45 p.m. at The Cook Center. This event takes the place of the annual spring luncheon to celebrate the 10th year.
