Corsicana — Meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County.

Aug. 10

Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will meet at 9 a.m. at 1020 N. Bus. 45. All ages are welcome to come pack. If anyone has a loved one serving in harm’s way, please bring their address to the packing so we can send a gift box to them. We would like to thank the American Legion Post 22 for their generous donations made to the Angels to assist us in our packings and fund raisers. We appreciate all donations for our military members serving in harm’s way. For more information call Jean O’Connor at (903) 851-2560.

The Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force meets at the Tucker Hardgrave Memorial Hangar at the south end of C. David Campbell Field, the Corsicana Municipal Airport. There will be a staff meeting at 10 a.m. with the general meeting to follow at 10:30 a.m. Prospective members and the public are invited to attend the general meeting.

City of Corsicana presents “Island Time” in its Second Saturday event series from 4 to 8 p.m. Activities normally held at Third and Main will be moved to Pocket Park this month, 118 N. Beaton. The kids can once again enjoy a free water slide from 4 to 8 p.m. behind Pocket Park off Fifth Avenue between Beaton and Main, and the addition of Spooner Boards should be fun too. Limbo and hula hoop contests begin at 5 p.m. Enjoy live music by Curlyhead and by Tommy-O & The Bamboo Boat band beginning at 5:45 p.m. at Pocket Park. There will be no outdoor vendors this month. Our final event of the 2013 series, “Fiesta Tejas” will be Sept. 14 from 3 to 8 p.m. This event will be back at the original location at Third Avenue between Beaton and Main with lots of fun, vendors, tamale contest, car club cruise-in and more. Look for more on our “Fiesta Tejas” Event in the near future. For more information regarding our Second Saturday Event series, please call (903) 654-4850 or visit www.corsicanasecondsaturdays.com.
