Corsicana — NARFE, National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting at the Sirloin Stockade restaurant in Corsicana, Texas from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Meet John Gantt, guest speaker, and also our NARFE NE Area Vice President, Dewey LaRochelle, who is visiting our chapter.  Members, guests, and all who are part of our federal family come join us. Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at 6 p.m. each Tuesday, in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Annex, 417 W. Collin St., Corsicana.  All are welcome to learn to give and receive support at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday of the month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psychologist, joins the group discussions on various aspects of mental health. For more information call (903) 872-6302.

Aug. 16

VFW on West Hwy 31 will host Country Sue Karoake from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. Come out, meet friends, and have a fun evening.

 

Aug. 17

Back to School/Stay in School Rally will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at IOOF Event Center, corner of 45th St. and Second Ave. Family members, students, youth of all ages, community members and educators are welcome to come meet CISD Administrators, principals and teachers. There wil be vendor booths, giveaways, games, activities and more. Busses will arrive at 8 a.m. at Bowie, Carroll, Drane, Navarro, Sam Houston, Fannin, Travis and the Northwest Apartments to pick up adults and students, and will return them to the school site after 12 noon. Aug. 19

The Corsicana Art League will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. after a two-month summer break. Come to the Senior Activity Center at 919 West Park Ave, bring your favorite recipe prepared and enjoy potluck with friends. Drinks and bread will be provided.
