The Warehouse Living Arts Center will open the 43rd consecutive season with “Moonlight and Magnolias” by Ron Hutchison on Thursday, Jan. 30. The cast features Mark Bedgood, Brad Cook, Marissa Hoskins Dobbs and Frank Means. Other performance dates are Jan. 31, Feb. 1-2, 4, 6-7-8. Evening show starts at 7:30 p.m.; the matinee on Feb. 2 starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the theatre box office at 119 West 6th Avenue in downtown Corsicana across from the post office. Feb. 1

Cars of Navarro County will host its season kickoff car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Exxon Tiger Tote on West Highway 31 at 45th Street. Entry fee is $10 with 17 awards to be presented. Proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. For more information call 214-418-5775.

Feb. 4

Oak Valley Crime Watch will meet at 6 p.m. at the Oak Valley Community Center. Guest speaker will be Bobby Vickery, who is running for Dist. 8 Texas State Rep. Please bring your favorite covered dish and a friend/neighbor. Everyone is welcome.

The Piecemakers’ Quilt Guild of Corsicana will gather at 9:30 a.m. for “meet and greet” at Westhill Church of Christ on Hwy. 22. The regular session begins at 10 a.m. with a short business meeting followed by a program. Well-known quilt instructor and author, Winnie Fleming, will present a lecture and teach a class on mitered corners. The Southern Pacific  Sunbeam Club is a group of railroaders who gather on the first Tuesday of each month for food, fun, fellowship and the sharing of special memories. They will enjoy this time of sharing at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Ennis IHOP. They will also begin planning for the upcoming annual reunion to be held in April.

American Legion Auxiliary meet at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend as there are some important business items that must be discussed and decisions made on upcoming projects. Visitors are always welcome.

Eureka Crime Watch will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Eureka United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Special guest will be Laura Baumgardner, flight nurse with PHI, the company that provides our local air ambulance service. Join your friends and neighbors for this educational meeting. Refreshments will be served.



Thomas Meredith Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century, will meet at 12 noon at the Kinsloe house. They will enjoy the program on Japan by Sandra Curtis and Arliss Watson. The Curtis family armorial ancestor is Thomas Ligon.

The Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 96th Annual Banquet at the I.O.O.F. Event Center beginning at 6 p.m. For tickets or more information, contact the chamber at 903-874-4731.



Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Historical Society Building. Guest speaker will be Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Feb. 10

State Sen. Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) will be the featured speaker at the Reagan Day Dinner hosted by the Republican Party of Navarro County starting at 6 p.m. at Napoli’s Restaurant, 111 East Collin St. in Corsicana. Proceeds from the event will benefit Republican Party of Navarro County operations and will stay in Navarro County.

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. James Blair Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will hold its Special Awards meeting at 3 p.m. at the Kinsloe House. Younger students will be recognized for winning the history essages from their schools. High school seniors will be honored as the Good Citizenship winner from their respective high schools. One senior student will be awarded a scholarship from the Lillian Farrow Hearne scholarship fund. Presenting the award will be Barbara Lewandowski from the Texas State Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Program chairman are Margaret Thomas and Sandra Curtis. Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle  will host a AARP Drivers Safety Course 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. in the hospital classrooms. The refresher course is designed for drivers 50 years and older. The Navarro County Aggie Moms present the Singing Aggie Cadets in concert at the Palace Theatre at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for floor seats, $20 for balcony. Boy Scouts of America will hold “Scouting for Food.” Help Scouts feed the hungry by placing your donation of food items on your doorstep before 10 a.m. A Scout will be by to pick them up that morning. Donations may include canned vegetables, canned soups/juices, canned meats, canned baby formula, canned chili, and boxed Helper meals pastas.

Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Sterling House Assisted Living, 3329 W. Seventh Ave. Sponsored by Family Care of Texas, this support group meets each third Tuesday of the month to improve the quality of life for the patient with Alzheimer’s and their family. This month’s topic is “Stress indicators and stress responses for Alz.” Snacks and door prizes.
