Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

The Warehouse Living Arts Center will present MAMA WON’T FLY opening on Thursday, Sept. 12. The mad-cap, family-friendly comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten involves an outrageous race against the clock when Savannah (Darlene Pleiner) agrees to get her feisty mother (Norma Russell) all the way from Alabama to California in time for her brother’s wedding to Hayley (Annot Walthall). Savannah’s problem: Mama won’t fly! The cast, led by Russell, Pleiner and Walthall also features a large cast of talented supporting actors including: Debbie Bigler, Sharon Goodman, Debbie Hanks, Irvin Horn, Randy Jones, Sandra McClure Mahood, Ron Motley, Kevin Painter, Grace Sowell and Adam Walthall.
