Corsicana — Sept. 13-15, 17, 19-21

The Warehouse Living Arts Center will present MAMA WON’T FLY opening on Thursday, Sept. 12. The mad-cap, family-friendly comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten involves an outrageous race against the clock when Savannah (Darlene Pleiner) agrees to get her feisty mother (Norma Russell) all the way from Alabama to California in time for her brother’s wedding to Hayley (Annot Walthall). Savannah’s problem: Mama won’t fly! The cast, led by Russell, Pleiner and Walthall also features a large cast of talented supporting actors including: Debbie Bigler, Sharon Goodman, Debbie Hanks, Irvin Horn, Randy Jones, Sandra McClure Mahood, Ron Motley, Kevin Painter, Grace Sowell and Adam Walthall. MAMA WON'T FLY opens Sept. 12 with a performance at 7:30 p.m., followed by the opening night gala. Sept. 13

The Navarro County Retired Teachers will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. The program will be presented by Catherine Gatz on benefits for teachers. All retired school employees are invited to attend.

Sept. 14

Corsicana Masonic Lodge #174 is announces its first Benefit Golf Tournament taking place at the Oak Trails Golf Course. The tournament will have a shot gun start at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with contests including closest to the pin on holes 6 and 11, and a Hole in One contest on hole 16 with a grand prize of a new Ford Fusion automobile. The City of Corsicana presents “Fiesta Tejas” in celebration of Hispanic Heritage month in its final Second Saturday event of the 2013 series from 3 to 9 p.m. (or dark.) Festivities include live Conjunto music, Charro horse show, Ballet Folklorico, a homemade tamale contest, car club cruise in, bounce house, vendors, food, and more! The event will take place at Third Avenue between Main and Beaton in downtown Corsicana. Come early and visit our local merchants.
