The Kinsloe House Volunteer Committee headed by Clara Hickerson and others will present a delightful and entertaining program with Jim Cathey, a renowned cowboy poet, on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Jim has won many prestigious awards nationally and locally. Jim started out at the Mabank Library Cowboy Breakfast fundraiser. He has written over 100 poems, and produced a CD with 16 of his poems. His work is featured at cowboypoetry.com. Jim attributes his love of poetry to his granddad and to living a rural lifestyle that provides many true life situations used in his poetry. He is still writing poetry and entering competitions. Jim is a true Texan. Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. in the Blooming Grove Historical Society building. Guest speaker will be Jenny Bratton, director of the Child Advocacy Center in Corsicana. Everyone is welcome to attend.
American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana. In addition to helping save a life by giving blood, the Red Cross is also asking for donations of new winter clothing, such as sweatshirts and sweatpants, which are included on response vehicles when responding to house fires and disasters during cold fall and winter months.
