Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County.

Aug. 17

Back to School/Stay in School Rally will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at IOOF Event Center, corner of 45th St. and Second Ave. Family members, students, youth of all ages, community members and educators are welcome to come meet CISD Administrators, principals and teachers. There wil be vendor booths, giveaways, games, activities and more. Busses will arrive at 8 a.m. at Bowie, Carroll, Drane, Navarro, Sam Houston, Fannin, Travis and the Northwest Apartments to pick up adults and students, and will return them to the school site after 12 noon. Aug. 19

The Corsicana Art League resumes after a summer break. There will be a "pitch-in" dinner at the Senior Activity Center at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug 19.  Artists are invited to bring one or two paintings to be critiqued by the group.  Bring your favorite dish and a friend.  For more info call (903) 519-9082.

Aug. 20

Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at 6 p.m. each Tuesday, in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Annex, 417 W. Collin St., Corsicana.  All are welcome to learn to give and receive support at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday of the month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psychologist, joins the group discussions on various aspects of mental health. For more information call (903) 872-6302.

Aug. 21

U.S. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis) is hosting a Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. at the Corsicana Government Center, at 200 North 12th Street. Barton will provide an update on activities taking place in Washington, D.C., and will answer questions from the audience. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Corsicana Marcha Para La Reforma/ Immigration Reform Rally will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. during the Joe Barton Town Hall Meeting. The march will begin at the lot behind Super One (formerly Ole) and walk down Seventh Ave., then up 12th St. to city hall. For more information, visit Corsicana Marcha Para La Reforma on Facebook.
