Corsicana — Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb, 28, 1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
Martin Luther King Jr. Center presents an Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will feature jewelry, children’s storybooks, hats, purses, scarves, decorative T-shirts, clothing, canned goods, and much more. The newly organized Silver Dems will meet at 5 p.m. at the Navarro Democratic Party HQ at 416A W. Third Street (1 blk W of Court House). We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the sweet treats and wear your best smile. We will soon be approving by-laws and electing officers and committees so your leadership skills will be needed. Come and join the party! The group’s main purpose is to discuss and protect issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available and earned by senior citizens and veterans.

Mary Peterson Child Care Center will hold a concert and reception at 7:30 p.m. at The Cook Center. The purpose of the concert is to raise funds for a new facility to be constructed for Mary Peterson Child Care Center. This awareness event is themed “Bridge to the Future — Mary Peterson Child Care Center.”
