Corsicana — March 28

The Hop Downtown - Annual event sponsored by the Corsicana Main Street Program, Corsicana Parks and Recreation, and local businesses from 3 to 5:30 p.m. There will be games for the kids, a bounce house, face painting, a drawing for free bikes, photos in Pocket Park, refreshments, and the Easter Bunny. It will be held on Beaton Street in downtown Corsicana. For further information call (903) 654-4850 or email wfreeman@ci.corsicana.tx.us.

Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be at the Corsicana YMCA from 2 to 7 p.m. If you are low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year VITA will see clients with appointments first and then work with walk-ins. VITA is at the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Kerens Library on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.

The Corsicana Newcomers' Club will hold its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. at the Kinsloe House. Come and find out about the roots of that device none of us can live without — our cell phone!  If you are new in town, or have lived here forever, you'll find Don Capehart's presentation on The Capehart Communications Collection, colloquially known as the Telephone Museum, one you won't want to miss!  It might even pique your interest into taking a virtual tour!  Call Marge Oslick at (903) 872-3508 for more information or confirmed reservations.

March 29

Cinergy Cinemas is hosting a blood drive from 5 to 10 p.m. at 3501 Corsicana Crossing Blvd. on the Carter BloodCare bus. In conjunction with the release of the movie “G.I. Joe Retaliation” donors will receive a free movie pass. For more information or to schedule an appointment time, contact Chris Creagor at (903) 641-0049.
