The Navarro College Foundation will once again host its annual scholarship fundraiser, Elegance, beginning at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Cook Education Center on the Navarro College Corsicana campus. The event, which generally takes place in February, was moved to May due to expansion of the event’s venue. Construction on the Cook Center should be complete by mid-April.

This year’s theme is “Education is Timeless,” and the foundation is now accepting couple and single seat reservations. Each ticket costs $175 per person. Tables can also be purchased at the bronze level for $3,500, gold level $5,000, platinum level $10,000, and diamond level $15,000. Each table seats eight guests.

The annual event raises thousands of dollars for scholarships for Navarro College students through table and individual ticket sales, auctions, raffles, and other fun events that take place during the evening.

“Education is Timeless represents a clock-inspired theme. We will be incorporating hour glasses, lots of different types of clocks and a silver and black color scheme into the design,” said Donna Parish, director of marketing and public information at Navarro College and coordinator of Elegance 2011. “The décor this year will once again be fabulous, as will the gourmet meal catered by George of Dallas,” she added.

“We have some surprises planned this year involving the silent auction. We’re always looking for new and fun ways to raise funds for our students while ensuring that our guests are experiencing a world-class event,” Parish said.

When guests arrive, they may partake in cocktails while browsing items up for auction in the newly renovated Cook Education Center. Opportunities to purchase raffle tickets and chances on donated items and are also offered. At 7:15 p.m., guests are escorted into the Cook Education Center’s dramatically decorated atrium for dinner. During the gourmet meal, guests bid on the larger ticket items during the live auction, and there will be other opportunities to engage in fun and games.

“Everyone has a wonderful time, and at the evening’s conclusion, our guests have helped NC students by donating funds that will help cover tuition and fees, room and board, and even books. We are so very fortunate to have such wonderful people attend and support education,” Parish said.
