Grace Community Church is so excited to share that God has faithfully provided us with a new Student Pastor. Jess Demarest and his wife, Laura, have been married for 10 years, and they have one daughter (Lila, 5). Jess has been the Student Pastor at Louetta Road Baptist Church in Spring for the past eight years. He is a graduate of McNeese St. University, where he played football, and was selected all conference in 2004. He also recently graduated with a Master’s of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jess is smart, funny, and displays the kind of character and integrity that we’ve become accustomed to in our student leadership. We are so happy to have Jess and his family on board; please stop by to give them a big Corsicana welcome.  GCC worship services are held on Sundays at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., and Wednesday night Awana and youth activities are held on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Hope to see you soon.

Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church, 1300 FM 3041 invites the public to join for a night of music, worship, praise and fellowship at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014. Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will host a “Fourth Sunday Night Fellowship Service” at the Greater Wilgo Baptist Church, 621 E. The Corsicana Cowboy Church at 5864 W. Hwy. 31 (two miles west of Walmart) invites you to come out and join us for worship services every Sunday morning at 10 a.m.  Derek Rogers is our Pastor. Music is provided by our outstanding CCC Band with various guest singers. Bible Study is held each Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Construction on enlarging the church building is making rapid progress. Parking spaces have been added making it easier now to find a parking space. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recently took its 16 and 17 year old young people to a seminar in Duncanville with 175 other youth to learn about dating with high moral standards. The youth leaders presented a slide show of “how to maintain your standards on a date and still have fun,” followed by young men sharing “what guys want girls to know about dating,” and the young women “what girls want guys to know about dating.” A speed dating activity and dance then concluded the activity.

Bethel AME Church, 101 N. Fourth St., will host the Dennis Johnson’s Women’s Missionary Society’s prayer breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8. Come join for prayer, provision and proclaiming the Word. Serving God and serving the Word of God will be Minister Valorie Horn of Taylor’s Memorial Church of God in Christ. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W.  Northside Baptist Church offers Grief Share, a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close. Grief Share is non-denominational and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. A 13-week course begins Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Northside Baptist Church. The meeting will be in the parlor beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. The parlor is located in the new fellowship hall with entry and parking from Beaton Street.
