Nov. 28

Barry Masonic Lodge will have a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. with a meal at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are invited.

 

The Corsicana ISD Clothing Center will be open the next three Mondays after Thanksgiving. The clothing center, located at 1009 W. 13th Ave., will be open Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There are an abundance of coats, jackets and other outerwear at the clothing center, as well as our standard school clothing.

Nov. 29

Winkler Masonic Lodge will have a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. with a meal at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are invited.

Dec. 1

The Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7:00 pm.  A Christmas program is planned.  Everyone is welcome, see you there!

Woodmen of the World Lodge 5, Dec. 1 is the deadline to RSVP for our Christmas party and meeting on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at Navarro College in the Lone Star Room of the Kenneth Walker Dining Hall.  You MUST  RSVP before Dec. 1 as this will be a catered meal and we must have an accurate count. Dec. 3

The annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade will kick off at 6 p.m. To enter, or for more information, contact Dennis Thornberg at (903) 872-2133. There is no entry fee.

Jingle Bell Jog 5K/1 mile Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. at the Corsicana YMCA. Registration is 8 a.m., and pre-race aerobics will take place at 8:50 a.m. This is the 19th annual Jingle Bell Jog. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place in each category, as well as random finisher drawing, and best animal costume contest. Race categories are male and female, 12 and under, 13-20, 21-39, and 40 and up. Youth registration is $8, for pre-registration, $10 the day of race; Individual is $12 pre-registration, and $15 the day of race; and Family registration is $20 for pre-registration, and $25 the day of race. Each entry fee will include a T-shirt (with two T-shirts for family registration). Additional T-shirts will be sold for $10. For more information, contact the Corsicana YMCA at (903) 872-2412.

VOICE Inc. will host a Holiday Gala at 5 p.m. with sample gourmet holiday treats and Christmas spirits. The benefit for VOICE Inc. will include a tour of classic Corsicana homes, Christmas shopping with local merchants, and an elegant event finale at the home of Mrs. Fran Townes. The Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will meet at 9 a.m. at the American Legion Hall. All ages are welcome to come pack boxes for the troops overseas and here on American soil. There will be a lunch served by the Auxiliary for all volunteers. This will be our Christmas packing for our military members for whom we have names and addresses. Items or donations may be left the evening of the Dec. 2 after 5 p.m. at the American Legion, 632 N. Beaton. We are in need of snack foods and white tube socks. The Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 22 will hold their monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Please attend as this is a very important meeting. We will discuss all holiday events. Please bring all your coupons for their monthly mailing. For more information, call the post at (903) 874-3938.

Dec. 6

Oak Valley Crime Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Valley Community Center. Please join us for food, fellowship and games. Meat provided by Crime Watch. Please bring a covered dish and those who wish to participate may bring a wrapped gift ($10 value) to exchange as prizes. Everyone is welcome.

The Sunbeam Club will celebrate Christmas together in fellowship and the sharing of memories at the Ennis Family Restaurant, 2709 South Kaufman St., Ennis. The whistle will blow and Dutch lunch will be enjoyed at 11:30 a.m. for active and retired railroaders, their families, friends and train lovers.

The Blooming Grove Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. in the museum at 201 S. Fordyce.  Rev. Nancy Summers of the First Methodist Church in Blooming Grove will give a Christmas devotional.  All interested people are invited to attend.  For more information call (903) 695-2724 or (903) 673-2635

Dec. 8

The Navarro County NAACP is sponsoring a Flu Shot clinic at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 1114 E. Sixth Ave.,  Corsicana from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, in conjunction with Walgreens. Flu Shots will be Free to the patient. There is no co-pay; these shots are intended for the uninsured or underinsured.  Please call 903-872-7973 to schedule.  Please pass this important information on.  This is being sponsored by the Navarro County NAACP.   

 

Dec. 9-11

Live Nativity at Second Avenue Baptist Church will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It is the eighth annual Live Nativity for Second Avenue Baptist, and is free to the public. The Live Nativity features church members in costume at the traditional manger scene, and also at various scenes from Bethlehem. Completing the scenery are several live animals. Second Avenue Baptist Church invites you to join in celebrating the birth of the Christ child as you drive by the church to view the Live Nativity.

Dec. 12

Dec. 13

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m.   The general public is invited to attend.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call (903) 872-5072.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m.  at the Sirloin Stockade,  2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

Dec. 16

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Distribution will be held at Word Alive Church in the gymnasium, 3900 FM 744, Corsicana.

 

Jan. 1

Cars of Navarro County will host a New Year’s Day Beaton Street Bash Car Show, beginning at 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Free black-eyed peas and coffee will be provided by Roy’s Cafe. Cars, bikes, trucks, 4x4s, project vehicles, hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods, late model performance cars, and more are welcome. Proceeds from the Car show will go to the Navarro County Food Pantry.
