Jason Sodd has filed for the Place 1 position on the Corsicana ISD Board of Trustees.
Sodd is running for the seat being vacated by Kerri Anderson Donica, who has said she will not seek another term on the school board.
Sodd, a longtime resident of Corsicana, and 1991 graduate of Corsicana High School, said he is grateful to be considered for a position that puts children and education first.
“This is a way I can give back to my community, my school, and now my childrens’ school,” said Sodd in a release announcing his bid for the post. “I am fortunate to live in a place that values the importance of educating our youth.”
Sodd has lived in Corsicana most all of his life. He currently works as an attorney at Dawson & Sodd. He is married to Ellen, and they have two children — Gabe, who is 7, and Eva, 4.
“I appreciate the work and commitment of our school board,” said Sodd. “I feel like this is my time to step up, serve our schools and continue making our schools the best they can be.”
The Place 2 seat held by Leah Blackard is also up for election in May. Blackard said she would be seeking another term. She was unopposed in 2011.
Filing for the May 10 election will run through Feb. 28.
