A candlelight vigil will be held beginning at 8 p.m. at the Rice High School football stadium for William David O’Brien, 19, of Rice, who was killed March 15 in Iraq.

Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department will have a chili supper benefit for Chad Marshall beginning at 5 p.m. at the fire station. Marshall, 21, who is a volunteer firefighter for Blooming Grove, has been diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing chemo in Dallas. Kerens Ex-Students Association will have an Easter luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kerens Alumni Center. American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will hold a fund-raiser, including a bake sale, beginning at 8 a.m. There will be barbecue sandwiches and chips for $3, corn dogs for $1, and sodas for sale. The post will have a membership drive for Legionnaires, Sons of the American Legion, and Ladies Auxiliary. The Sons of American Legion will have a monthly meeting at 3 p.m. To attend the meeting, membership must be current. Also, Angels of Corsicana, a troop support group, will be at the post to accept items to send to the troops and monetary donations will be accepted to help with the cost of monthly mailing of packages to the military. VOICE will offer the Texas Youth Tobacco Awareness Program, a state-approved program for minors charged with attempted purchase, consumption, or possession of tobacco and is designed to the mandates of Texas law. VOICE staff is certified to facilitate this program. The class will be an eight-hour program divided into four two-hour sessions. Classes will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. April 22, 24, 29 and May 1.
