Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th St., where the Rev. A.E. Smith serves as pastor, will have its fifth Sunday program at 11 a.m. March 30. The theme will be “Where the Spirit is, There is Liberty” from 2 Corinthians 3:17. The special guest will be Sister Shelley Robinson, a former member of Straight Way and a native of Corsicana. She now resides in Cedar Hill.

Robinson is the daughter of Brother Jimmy Driver and Evangelist Lillie O’Banion. She is a 1990 graduate of Corsicana High School and a 1995 graduate from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in academic studies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in school administration.

Robinson taught for 10 years in the Corsicana Independent School District and is currently teaching in the Cedar Hill ISD with a total of 13 years experience. She was named the Cedar Hill ISD 2007 Secondary Teacher of the Year.

She is a very active member of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, under the leadership of her pastor, Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III. Robinson is the mother of two daughters, Starr and Skylar. Her favorite scriptures are Jeremiah 29:11, 13.

Sister B. Wilson will give the welcome. Mistress of ceremony will be Sister F. Kitchen, women’s department president. Mission statement will be given by Sister R. Watts. Introduction of speaker will be by Evangelist L. Watson.

The public is cordially invited to come out and be blessed by this fifth Sunday program.



Bethel AME Church’s Dennis Johnson Missionary Society has announced that the fifth Sunday morning speaker for women’s day will be Bethel’s own Sister Charlene E. Littleton. She is a 1980 Corsicana High School graduate, 1982 Navarro College graduate, 1985 University of North Texas graduate and received her master’s degree in 1995 from Amberton University. You are invited to support this sister in Christ as she speaks God’s word. Sister Du’Ane Yancy and Sister Mable Scott are missionary presidents.

Also, Bethel’s gospel choir will celebrate 59 years of singing songs of Zion at 3 p.m. April 13 with local and out-of-town guests. Sister Denise Freeman is choir president. Minister Jason Forge is the musician. The Rev. R.C. Emanuel is pastor and the Rev. Leonard “Ted” Johnson is assistant pastor.



Bethlehem Baptist Church, 409 N. Third St., will celebrate its pastor and wife, the Rev. Dairy Johnson Sr. and Ellender Johnson, in 23rd appreciation services. At 3:30 p.m. April 6, the service will have the Rev. Earnest Betts of New Bethel Baptist Church as speaker. At 7:30 p.m. April 11, Dr. Preston Malone of New Inspiring Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ennis, will be the speaker. At 7 p.m. April 12, the Bethlehem youth department will sponsor a banquet for the Johnsons. The speaker will be the Rev. Johnny Vanibuls from Samaria Baptist Church. The anniversary service at 3:30 p.m. April 13 will have the Rev. Stanley Smith of Faith Fellowship in Grand Prairie as the speaker. Chairman of the appreciation services is Sister Sherretta Lewis.



Corsicana Ministerial Alliance will meet at 1:30 p.m. April 2 at Lifeline Fellowship, 5301 W. State Highway 31, Corsicana, where Ricky Walter is pastor. The program will be presented by Dan Layne about the upcoming National Day of Prayer. All ministers in the area are invited to attend. Faith Temple, 819 S. 15th St., where Joe Vasquez is pastor, will have a revival at 7 p.m. April 7-14 at the National Guard Armory, 3100 W. Seventh Ave., with Evangelist David Johnson. Come hear Johnson’s testimony, hear how he fell 60 feet and lived, and the personal visitation of Jesus Christ speaking to him audibly.

Johnson has traveled the country for 27 years preaching the word of God. He preaches under tents as well as in the inner city parks of America. He reaches the lost and hurting and troubled lives with the good news of Jesus Christ. Music is an important part of the meetings setting an atmosphere for worship. The passion for souls is evident in these meetings. You can expect answers and total victory in your life.

First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., (903) 874-5656, will have revival services at 7 p.m. April 13-16. Acclaimed evangelist, singer and composer Wesley Putnam will be leading in these revival services. Greater Crossway Church of God in Christ, where Elder David S. Houston is pastor, will have its women’s day March 30. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m. with the worship service at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Missionary Mary Jo Dixon. You are invited to come and be blessed.



Greater Renfro Memorial Church of God in Christ women’s department will present women of praise at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Come and hear great women of God, telling you about the goodness of God, and how He brought them out. If you want to know who these ladies are, come Sunday morning and be blessed. House of Refuge Church of God in Christ, 413 Farm-to-Market 709 East, Dawson, where Elder Paul E. Puckett is pastor, invites the public to a “Money Smart” seminar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 29. The seminar will be held in the church’s Mosley and Sample Fellowship Hall. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County invites you to join in at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday for worship service. The church meets at the Navarro County Exposition Center, 4021 W. State Highway 22. On March 30, LSCC will have its monthly brunch after the morning service. Following the brunch, the youth will gather for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Word of Life Tabernacle, 200 E. 18th Ave., where Elder Lee J. Keeton Sr. is pastor, will have a fish fry beginning at 11:30 a.m. March 29, sponsored by the women’s department. Sister Vadell Johnson is president. Fish plates will include fish, salad and french fries. Also for sale will be fish sandwiches, hot links sandwiches, soda, chips, and while they last, large or small, pecan pies and potato pies.

At 11:30 a.m. March 30, a special fifth Sunday women’s day service will be held at Word of Life Tabernacle presenting Evangelist Cassandra Lilly Jackson, sponsored by the women’s department with Creola Keeton as chairman. Jackson, who was born in Dallas and currently resides in Garland, is the daughter of the late William Lilly and Genesa (William) Curry. Jackson has three brothers and three sisters and was married to the late Rev. James W. Jackson, who pastored in the Garland area for many years. They were married for 23 years.

Cassandra Jackson received her bachelor’s degree from Bishop College and is currently employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas in Richardson. Jackson is a member of All Nations Fellowship in Garland under the leadership of Pastor Robert Canady Jr. She is the founder of Cassandra Jackson Ministries. She is a minister of God’s word, a poet, and a conference and motivational speaker. God has anointed and called her to bring deliverance and healing to the people through his word. Her annual conference “Bible, Beauty and Brains” is designed to help women reach their spiritual potential and to walk in the authority that God has given them. She will be ministering on “Unity in the Body.”
