C. David Campbell Field hosting 10th annual AirSho

They are “flight ready.”

The Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force is holding its 10th Annual Corsicana AirSho on Saturday, May 10 at the Corsicana Municipal Airport, C. David Campbell Field just south of Corsicana.

Vintage World War II aircraft such as the wartime hero, the Douglas A-26 Invader, the “Spirit of Waco,” will be on display at the event, along with many other classic aircraft. The A-26 was the last aircraft to be designated as an “attack bomber” and it will be sitting on the tarmac at the airport for everyone to view up close. Parked nearby will be the O-2 Skymaster.

Precision flying teams will perform during the Airsho, including The Falcon Flight, made up of a six-member team who come from various parts of the country to fly together at air shows. In the sixth position in this team is Steve Richmond, a retired Navy Commander currently living in Corsicana and a member of the Coyote Squadron. The Texas V-Tails are a group of men flying Beechcraft Bonanzas nose to tail and wing tip to wing tip. Mike Babler is a member of this team and he is also a Coyote Squadron Colonel.

When the pilots of the big planes go in for lunch, aircraft activities continue as the remote controlled planes begin to fly. The Texas Heatwave and the Corsicana Miniature Aircraft Club will both put on a demonstration during the Airsho.

Also at this year’s Airsho are several vendors displaying a variety of cars, trucks, watercraft and outdoor gear, including Carl White Autoplex, Stewart Motors, I-45 Sales, Vitters Tractors, Viscon Pool and Spas, and Gander Mountain.

There are many more booths and displays and lots and lots of food. The Coyote Squadron will be serving hamburgers and sausage on a stick. Other concessions include hot dogs, corn dogs, fries and more. Immaculate Conception Church is serving up chopped beef sandwiches and Two Doors Down will mix up fresh fruit smoothies and lattes. Boy Scouts will serve up funnel cake and snow cones.

Visitors can also purchase plane rides during the Airsho for an aerial view of Corsicana. A door prize drawing for a free airplane ride or a $50 prize is also being offered.

Gates open 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Airsho activities run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $10 per car. Veterans and active duty military and their families will be admitted free.

Visitors attending the Airsho can tune their car radio to 1610 AM in the vicinity of the airport for parking information and AirSho specials.
