Air Force honors Evans

ARLINGTON — The 344th Recruiting Squadron of the U.S Air Force honored a Corsicana High School educator with a 2007-2008 Technology Education Outstanding Teacher Award on Tuesday.

Harold L. Evans, who teaches a technology-related class at Corsicana High School, received the honor after being nominated by his students through Technology Education’s website at www.teched101.com.

Technology Education publishes a 12-month teacher’s planning guide that’s distributed to more than 30,000 high school counselors nationwide.

Students were asked to submit short essays about why their teacher should receive the award.

As one of just 250 outstanding teacher award recipients, Evans will now compete for Technology Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year. The winner will have his or her photo and biographical profile printed in the 2008-2009 planning guide, which will be distributed at the beginning of the new school year.

The Air Force has supported Technology Education’s shop-safety program since 1985, by sponsoring free safety posters and other related materials.

“The Air Force is very proud to support America’s technology education teachers,” said Master Sergeant Joe Hunter, account executive for Enlisted Advertising Programs at Headquarters U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service.

“We’re also extremely pleased to honor these 250 outstanding teachers and to let them know how much their students appreciate them.”

The Air Force joins the students, faculty and parents from Corsicana High School in congratulating Harold L. Evans on being selected a 2007-2008 Technology Education Outstanding Teacher.

Evans also serves as the grounds supervisor for Corsicana ISD.
