From Staff Reports
Last year, Corsicana’s Terry Fator earned the title of “Million Dollar Man” by winning the television talent show America’s Got Talent.
This year, he can now be called the “100 Million Dollar Man,” thanks to the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The versatile singer and ventriloquist signed a five-year contract with the Las Vegas showplace to headline a venue that will bear his name. Buzz throughout the entertainment industry puts the value of Fator’s new deal at an estimated $100 million.
Fator, who spent part of his youth in Corsicana, became fascinated with the art of ventriloquism at an early age. Even as he toured with the group “Texas, the Band” throughout the country, he worked his ventriloquist act into the show. Honing his skills throughout the years of touring and finally branching out on his own, his manager encouraged him to combine his talents — singing, impersonations and ventriloquism — into one act.
It was that act that made its way to the top of the TV talent show in 2007, and opened doors for him with regular appearances in Las Vegas. Fator has also made the television circuit, with both local and national appearances. He was a guest on the David Letterman Late Night show this week.
Fator makes his home in Dallas now, although he’ll be spending a lot of time on the Las Vegas Strip for the next five years.
