Police seek robbery suspect

Elderly woman hurt in purse snatching

Corsicana police are searching for a man involved in two separate incidents Wednesday at Brookshire’s Grocery Store on North Main Street.

Police Captain Kenneth Kirkwood said the man being sought grabbed the purse of an elderly woman outside the store after he was confronted by the store manager going through offices in the rear of the store. The woman was treated at the scene by Corsicana E.M.S. personnel for a bruised arm.

Kirkwood described the suspect as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, slender build, wearing a green polo shirt, denim shorts and white sneakers.

“He jumped the creek and ran between the car wash and daycare center on Oaklawn,” Kirkwood said. Witnesses lost sight of the man at that point. Police and sheriff’s deputies searched the area looking for the suspect following the incidents.

Kirkwood said police had reviewed a surveillance video that showed the suspect inside the grocery store.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Corsicana Police Department.
