Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1700 S. Business 45, will have a prayer brunch at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 30 in fellowship hall, sponsored by the women’s department. Donations of $8 will be received for the brunch.

The speaker for this event will be Amanda Johnson-Curry, a former member and third child of Pastor and Mrs. Joseph Johnson Sr. She is a 1996 graduate of Corsicana High School. She continued her studies in biblical foundations and finance, graduating in 2001 from Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in finance. Having experienced a life-changing transformation through the gospel of Jesus Christ, Johnson-Curry is encouraged to share many of her life experiences which gives testimony to the deliverance ministry in which God has gifted her. She is founder of Power for My Purpose Ministry and an active member of Forward In Faith International Ministries of Farmers Branch.



Corsicana District Church of God in Christ fellowship meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at Kelly’s Temple. Come and be blessed. Superintendent is Elijah Baptist, district missionary is Charlene Johnson, and assistant superintendent is Pastor William Lewis Jr.



Faith Temple Ministries, North Highway 75, Fairfield, will celebrate Pastor P.A. Rischer in 12th anniversary services Aug. 22-24. The guest speaker at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 will be Pastor Vince Aldridge of Friendly Fellowship of Fort Worth. The guest speaker at 4 p.m. Aug. 23 will be Pastor Carlos Daniels Sr. of Faith Tabernacle Ministries of Palestine. The guest speaker at 4 p.m. Aug. 24 will be Pastor H.B. Horn Jr. of Greater Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ of Dallas. There will be guests from Corsicana, Palestine, Teague, Butler, Fort Worth, Dallas, Fairfield, and other surrounding areas. Friendship Baptist Church in Eureka invites you to be a part of the homecoming/memorial services at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th St., where A.E. Smith is pastor. The spoken word will be brought by Johnny Moss, pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Oakwood. Special guests will be the Spiritual Disciples of Dallas and the Moss Singers. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3000 W. State Highway 22, invites you to come cool off and enjoy Zanada Tally’s beautiful voice during the church’s ice cream social, held in the gym, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 24. Join in for ice cream and cake while being entertained by various talents: Tally, The Bad Habits from 1998, and many others. Cost will be $5, and $2.50 for children under 10. Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at Second Mission Baptist Church, 909 S. Fifth St., where L.L. Polk Sr. is pastor. The speaker will be Bishop K.D. Davis Sr., pastor of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Dairy Johnson Sr. is IDMA president. The public is invited, and all churches are encouraged to attend.



Kelly’s Temple Church of God in Christ, 501 N. Third St., where Elder Billy Joe Kelly is pastor and Sister Ruthie Kelly is first lady, will have revival services at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27-29 with Missionary Gertrude Richardson. Life in the Word Bible Church, 1408 N. Beaton St., where Don and Emma Jessie are pastors, will host a “Chat and Chew,” sponsored by the Women of Prayer, led by Mary Slaughter, from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 23. The event will be focusing on the love of God. Guest speakers will be Minister Sharron Wilson from Love Chapel Baptist Church and Betty Garrett from Mount Olive Baptist Church. Pastor Emma Jessie will be the praise and worship leader.



Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County invites you to join in at 10 a.m. each Sunday for worship service at its new location, 4495 W. State Highway 22, located one mile west of the Navarro County Exposition Center. Weather permitting, team roping practice is held at 7 p.m. Mondays at Randy Springer’s arena. At 7 p.m. Wednesdays there is Bible study and youth meetings in the new church building. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast meets at 6:45 a.m. Wednesdays in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Open Bible study and gospel singing is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. Roane Chapel Full Gospel Church, 100 S. Parham St., where Elder Harold Evans Sr. is pastor, will have a back-to-school program at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 24. The guest speaker will be Minister Eric Grant, associate minister at Greater Renfro Church of God in Christ, where the pastor is Elder William Lewis Jr.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Aug. 23, the ladies of Roane Chapel and the youth department will have a bake sale at Wal-Mart. Sister Sherry Smith is youth director.



Second Avenue Baptist Church announces the start of its new youth ministry Sept. 3. “Our goal at Second Avenue is to minister to the whole family. One of the ways we are going to accomplish this is through our Wednesday evening service,” said Pastor Charles McBryde.

Toddlers through age 4 will learn about God and the Bible through “Hands on Bible” curriculum. Ages 5 through fifth grade will be learning through the “Bible Blitz” curriculum. Sixth grade through college will learn more about God and how to live for Him using “Student Life’s” curriculum. Adults will meet in the sanctuary for Bible study.

Services will start at 7 p.m. every Wednesday and run until about 8 p.m. If you would like more information about Second Avenue, would like to pre-register your child, or arrange for them to be picked up by the church van, you may call the church office at (903) 874-6813.



Unity Baptist Church, 406 S. 34th St., invites you to services: Sunday — Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m., worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., Bible study classes at 5 p.m., and worship at 6 p.m.; and Wednesday — prayer meeting at 7 p.m. King’s Kids Class meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. A nursery is open for all church services. For transportation for any services, call the church at (903) 872-2861 and leave your name, phone number, address and how many people need a ride. At 10 a.m. Tuesdays, a group of people from Unity visits shut-ins. Also, at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, there is a Bible study at Northwest Apartments Community Center.



Westminster Presbyterian Church offers a service of wholeness four times a year. During these services, there are extended times for silent reflection and prayers for wholeness and healing for yourselves, those you love and all creation. As a way of enacting the prayers and remembering God’s promise and love, anointing with oil will be offered for those who desire to receive that sign.

Westminster, located at 312 N. 13th St., will host its first service of wholeness at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 in the sanctuary. The community is invited to attend this unique service.



Women of Glory Ministry will have its monthly fellowship meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 308 E. 11th Ave., where Erma J. Young serves as pastor. All women are invited to fellowship at this meeting. Evangelist Frances Kitchen serves as president. Erma J. Young is founder of Women of Glory Ministry and advisors are Pastors Alvin E. Smith and David E. Wilson.
