Navarro County Board of Realtors

The regular monthly luncheon of the Navarro County Board of Realtors was held at noon Sept. 18 at the Holiday Inn Express in Corsicana. Community National Bank and Trust sponsored the luncheon and Gerry Harris of St. Elmo Country Store catered. Dr. James Gaines, A&M Real Estate Research Scientist Center, presented a very interesting chart on the challenging economy and housing market in 2008. Fifty-eight members attended the meeting.



Navarro Regional Hospital

Navarro Regional Hospital has announced the names of 16 select woman who will lead the advisory council for the hospital’s newest program — Healthy Woman. Set to kick-off on Nov. 13, Healthy Woman will feature a monthly series of free seminars, health fairs, education programs and interactive events focusing on women.

“The women who make up this council are leaders in our community in a variety of ways,” said Xavier Villarreal, Navarro Regional chief executive officer. “Through civic, volunteer and community involvement, these diverse women are ambassadors for other women in their leadership roles, proactive community interest and progressive thinking.”

The Healthy Woman advisory council includes: chairman Vicki Arnett, Lindsey Barak, Connie Beal, Paula Butler, Kathy Campbell, Kay Cook, Joy Dill, Gloria Guillen, Laurie Henigan, Laura Herrin, Dr. Amber Johnston, Kristy Nutt, Liz Kingman, Lori Rodriguez, Melissa Rodriguez and Tiffany Villarreal. “These women will provide guidance to ensure that the issues that concern the women of Navarro County are addressed by Navarro Regional Hospital,” Villarreal said.

Women, who make between 80 and 90 percent of all healthcare decisions, often balance careers, primary and secondary families, issues with parents, and civic work. Healthy Woman was created by women for women to provide up-to-date healthcare information for the entire family. The mission of the program is to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones.

The free monthly presentations will cover physical and emotional healthcare, as well as financial well-being and spiritual development. Healthcare topics may include pertinent information on heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, menopause, nutrition, osteoporosis, stress management and life balance issues.

The Healthy Woman kick off will be held Nov.13 at The Cook Center. The event will include dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. featuring nationally-noted speaker, distinguished professor and certified love educator, Pat Love, Ed.D., whose books have taken her around the world and afforded numerous appearances on “Oprah,” CNN and “The Today Show.” The cost for the presentation with dinner is $10.
