Chamber auction offers unique items

The Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce reception and fund-raiser has an Oktoberfest theme, but the range of silent auction items is more wide-ranging.

The event will take place starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Cook Center. Tickets to the reception and auction are $15. Reservations must be made in advance by calling the chamber at (903) 874-4731.

From a deer feeder to bed-and-breakfast getaway, local merchants have contributed some of their most intriguing products to the cause of raising money for the chamber.

Gift certificates are available to H-E-B, Brookshire’s, Napoli’s, Black Jack McCanless, The Other Place, Wingstop, Ken’s Barbershop, Neda’s pet grooming, Card and Party Factory, Anytime Fitness and Curves, Carl White, Texaco Xpress, the Country Club, Sears and The Ark.

Some merchants have offered specific items to the auction, including artwork and home decor, hats and accessories, a carpet cleaner, golf outings, lessons and accessories, a four-wheeler storage bag, deer feeder, pressure washer, weed trimmer, a DVD player, two wet-dry vaccuums, a reciprocating saw, a big propane fish fryer, and a Jay Novacek-signed football. There are also specific edibles, such as a case of pickles and relish from Picolo’s Pickles, a case of Wolf Brand Chili, and a gift basket from Two Doors Down.

Other members have offered up services, such as a golf lesson, oil changes and tire alignments, dog grooming, haircuts, catered cocktail parties, and a full-body massage.

Adventures are also part of the auction list, including ATV rentals, nights at local bed and breakfasts, concealed handgun lessons, an eight-hour pontoon boat rental (gas included), or four passes to a fishing barge (minnows and night crawlers included), and tickets to renaissance festivals in Waxahachie and Houston.

The live auction offers even more possibilities, ranging from a full day of treatments from a spa, to a night at a Lake Granbury resort, two parties, a Tony Romo-signed, framed jersey, a gas generator, a gas grill, a stainless steel cooler, a shooting party, two golfing parties, winterization of a boat, or a custom-made fly rod with two hours of lessons for two people.
