Faith Lutheran Church, 3824 W. State Highway 22, will have Oktoberfest from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 with food and fun for the whole family. There will be great German food with bratwurst dinners with sauerkraut, German potato salad, green beans and drink for $7. Brats on a bun will be $3. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be freshly made bread and cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies and cakes for sale. Also on sale will be arts and crafts and new and used items. A drawing will be held for a king-size quilt, crocheted shawl, crocheted afghan, and a $25 Wal-Mart gift card. For more information, call (903) 874-8795.
Calvary Worship Center, 1364 N. Beaton St., will have its 12th annual Fall Family FEST from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31. No admission fee. There will be many door prizes, and prizes and/or candy at every game. There will be a petting zoo, balloon artists, face painting, survivor zipline, super trampoline, pony carousel, mechanical bull, climbing mountain and food/dessert booths.
Community Baptist Church, located at 125 County Road SW3040 and State Highway 31, will have its 58th homecoming services Nov. 1. Robert Easterling, former pastor, will be preaching. Lunch will be served and there will be singing after lunch. All former members and friends are invited to come join in.
Eastside Church of Christ, 906 E. 13th Ave., has a food and clothing ministry open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. Non-perishable food, clothing, shoes and some household items will be given to those in need. Eureka United Methodist Church will hold its 47th Lord’s Acre and auction Oct. 24. A barbecue dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will consist of barbecue, pinto beans, potato salad, relish assortment, bread, homemade pies, coffee and tea. The country store will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and reopen from 4 to 7 p.m. Homemade items to be featured will include candy, jellies, cakes, pies and craft items. The auction, with Kirby Hill as auctioneer, will start at 7:30 p.m. A drawing for the quilt, made by the ladies of the church, will be held during the auction. Mike and Susan Wisdom are chairmen of this year’s Lord’s Acre. The Rev. David Ricker is minister.
Faith Temple Ministries, North Highway 75, Fairfield, where P.A. Rischer is pastor, will celebrate its 17th annual family and friends day at 4 p.m. Oct. 25. Recording artist The Texas Boyz of Dallas will be the distinguished guest along with Kelly’s Temple of Corsicana, Elder Billy Joe Kelly, and Faith Tabernacle of Palestine and Pastor Carlos Daniels, who will be the emcee. First United Methodist Church of Dawson, 200 N. Main St., will have a Lord’s Acre dinner and auction Nov. 7 in the church’s fellowship hall. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will consist of ham and your choice of sides including potato salad, baked beans, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children 4 to 12 years old, and children under 4 will eat free. Take-out meals will be available. The live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the Lord’s Acre will go to special community and church projects.
First United Methodist Church of Hubbard, 208 N.W. Second Ave., will have its 31st annual Lord’s Acre on Oct. 24 in fellowship hall. The country store will be open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will feature baked goods and other specialty items. Visitors will have an opportunity to preview the handmade quilts made by Quilters for Christ and other items that will be in the auction which will begin at 2 p.m. Following the auction, a turkey and dressing meal will be served in the Haralson Center, adjacent to the church. First United Methodist Church of Kerens will have its annual Lord’s Acre at the Kerens Alumni Center in downtown Kerens. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with brisket, ham and all the trimmings. Homemade desserts will be on hand also. Lunch will be $4 for children and $8 for adults. There will be a live auction beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Heavenly Days Country Holiness Church, 12852 County Road SW2170, Richland, will have a gospel singing with an open mic from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 21. All donations such as food, hygiene items, paper goods, etc., will go to help fill the church’s food pantry, which helps those in need. Sandwiches will be served after the singing. Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will have its fourth Sunday night fellowship at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Thirteenth Avenue Christian Church, where Clyde Chambers is pastor. The speaker will be L.L. Polk, pastor of Second Mission Baptist Church. IDMA president is Dairy Johnson Sr.
Kingdom Connection monthly fellowship will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th St., where Alvin E. Smith serves as pastor. Lakeside United Methodist Church will have a fall festival from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 31. There will edibles, baked good, crafts and games and prizes for children. There will also be a quilt raffle. Tickets will be $5 each or three for $10. Money raised will go for local outreach and ministries.
Landmark Baptist Church, 4429 W. State Highway 31, has pumpkins for sale for decor or to bake with. Prices vary from 50 cents to $20. Come take some pictures at the pumpkin patch. Pumpkins are available from 12:30 p.m. until dark weekdays, from 10 a.m. until dark Saturdays and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sundays. You are invited to come see the selection.
Life in the Word Bible Church, 1408 N. Beaton St., where Emma Brown-Jessie is pastor, will host the annual harvest drive at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Pastor W.R. Love Chapel Baptist Church, 400 N. Benton St., where David E. Wilson serves as pastor and Sharron D. Wilson serves as minister, has announced that Bobbie D. Jackson will receive her minister’s license on Oct. 25. Jackson accepted her calling into the gospel ministry and has completed her study of the instructions and principles of the word of God in ministry at Tuesday school under the teaching of Pastor Wilson. Jackson will preach at the 11 a.m. worship hour and will then be presented her license by Wilson. At 3 p.m. Oct. 25, Love Chapel Church will observe its “Men in Black” program. The theme will be “Becoming a Disciplined Man” from Titus 1:8, 1 Timothy 4:7-8, and 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Master of ceremony will be Brother Stanley Dunbar. Devotional will be given by Brother Hezekiah Dee. Brother Patrick Dunbar will give the welcome. The guest church will be Greater Rock of Ages of Dallas and the spoken word will be brought by Pastor Rush Ingram. Everyone is cordially invited to fellowship in this service. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. Open Bible study and gospel singing is held every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. There is no cost to attend.
