Several Kerens Band students are among the best musicians in Band Region 8. On Nov. 30, they competed against over 600 students from 1A, 2A, and 3A schools in the region at Groesbeck to win places in the Region 8 All-Region Honor Band.
Twenty-eight middle school students competed and nine earned a chair in the Region 8 East-Zone Middle School Band. Students earning a chair in the band were: Katecey Harrell, Cole Brumbelow, Diego Maldonado, Curtis Williams, Trey Crittenden, Payton Bancroft, Paxton Kilgore, Tyson Garrison, Kevin Martinez. All of these students have worked very hard and will continue to help the Kerens Band Program remain a “state-ranked” organization.
In addition to performing well, all of the middle school students auditioning were given an even higher honor. One of the directors in charge of the event took notice of the students’ good behavior and made the KISD band directors aware of it as they were leaving the competition.
